Yes, It’s OK to Criticize the Almighty Greta Thunberg

A major pet peeve of mine when conservatives or liberals use children to push their political agenda. When people criticize the agenda for being unrealistic, brash or stupid, those who hide behind the child will say something to the extent of, “How dare you attack a CHILD in this way – they are just doing what adults failed to do!” A little convenient, eh? Well, I don’t play this game. If you step into the public light, you will get the public light of scrutiny.

Greta Thunberg is a 16-year old girl from Sweden who just won Time Magazine’s “Person of the Year” for 2019. She is famous for traveling all over the globe, leading school walk-outs and advocating for “climate justice.” Greta has celebrity status with both the US and global Left. Perhaps her most famous moment is when she screeched at world leaders while speaking at a UN climate summit about the horrors of her world traveling lifestyle, “How dare you! You have stolen my dreams and my childhood.” She says the “climate crisis” is “not just about environment” but also “colonial, racist, patriarchal systems of oppression.” Yet, according to the Left, we all need to go along with this narrative. “NO. You may NEVER criticize a child. She is doing the work the adults SHOULD be doing.”

I’m here to say: Greta and her ideas can be critiqued. Bad ideas are bad ideas, regardless of the person stating them. When people use young people as shield for their political agenda, left or right, they need to prepare to have their ideas criticized. I refuse to bow before the altar of climate change for the sake of appeasing Greta and the politically correct elite.
