Iranian General Dead from U.S. Strike

Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani was killed by a U.S. airstrike in Iraq this past Friday evening. The strike came in response to countless actions taken by Soleimani in the past, but most recently from the attack on our embassy in Iraq. The Pentagon confirmed President Trump had ordered the attack on Soleimani and other military officials at the Baghdad International Airport. Soleimani was considered to be Iran’s chief “shadow commander,” being responsible for both wounding and killing thousands of Americans. Iran has funded and coordinated terror attacks against the United States and our allies all over the world.

The Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, taunted President Trump on Twitter on New Years Eve, saying the U.S. “couldn’t do anything” about their aggression on our facilities in Iraq. The United States responded with a counter-strike. Now, the leaders in Iran have vowed “harsh retaliation.” Officials in larger cities like Los Angeles and New York City are on higher alert, in case of terrorist attacks. The State Department has urged Americans to “depart Iraq immediately” due to rising tensions in the area.

Foreign policy is an area where many people have an opinion, but most have no clue as to what they are talking about – myself included. Leftists are beginning to rail on the President in public, calling this military action an “assassination,” or “escalation of tensions.” Hollywood actress Rose McGowan even said on Twitter, “Dear #Iran, The USA has disrespected your country, your flag, your people. 52% of us humbly apologize. We want peace with your nation. We are being held hostage by a terrorist regime . . .” Dozens of politicians who would praise Obama for taking out an enemy of the US are lambasting President Trump.

Here’s what I know: a monster who has heinously killed Americans is dead. This is very good. War with Iran would be costly, but I think fears of “WWIII” are overblown. America must always protect our interests when attacked, and this is exactly what President Trump has done.
