September 11th, 2001

On a crisp, blue September morning, 2,977 American lives were snuffed from the face of the earth. Radical Islamic terrorists slammed four commercial airliners into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a Pennsylvania field (a plane bound for the White House, only stopped by brave passengers who rushed the cabin and forced the plane down). Mothers, fathers, wives, husbands, children, grandpas & grandmas would never return home.

We say “never forget” because the lives of the slain matter to us. They deserve to be remembered. Police officers and fire fighters rushed up the burning stairwells of the twin towers, carrying people out and returning for more. Hundreds of these first responders died when the buildings collapsed – still inside trying to save Americans. They are the patriots our nation remembers, having the courage to sacrifice their lives for the sake of strangers.

The terrorists specifically targeted the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and the White House. Why? These are symbols of our freedom, power and greatness. They hate America because we are good and we are great. When you attack our fellow Americans, you attack us all. We will not forget the lives of innocent Americans taken before their time. We will never forget the heroes who exchanged their lives to rescue others. We will never forget why they attacked us.

Never forget September 11th, 2001.
